State Liquored Authority : Drinking and Driving is Wrong!

It is hard to piss me off.  I have developed such a high tolerance for BS that my personal threshold for anger is pretty strong.  HOWEVER, driving drunk and getting away with it is one quick way to get me going.  Well, committing any crime and getting away with it pretty much does it for me.

I received info that a deputy commossioner for the State Liquor Authority was arrested for drinking and driving in Albany a couple of weeks ago.  Now, I've been looking at https://www.nyspnews.com/ looking for his name and have not seen it.  The perp allegedly broke a .18 blood alcohol content.  The state limit is .08 so for you math geniouses who did poorly on decimals, .18 is more than double of .08.

According to their website, there are only two deputy comms based out of their Albany office,
Joshua Carr, DC for Internal Audit and Special Projects and Kerri O'Brien DC for licensing.

Now we need to know what the State Liquored Authority is going to do about it.  This agency has a long history of being a good hiding place for political hacks and appointees.

More to come when I get a name...

A Moment to Honor Blogoship - Updated

I am new to blogging.  As you can tell, I don't make much effort to do it regularly and I certain have an anti bullshit slant.  But there are others who do it religiously.

I read the TU Local Politics blog the most.  I dip into other blogs from time to time but this is the one that I come back to.  So I wanted to take time to recognize just some of the posters to this blog who keep me informed, misimformed, and entertained.

How Do You Solve A Problem Like Miranda?

Monica Arias Miranda is the head of the Hispanic Coalition.  If you know me, you know what I think about groups like the Hispanic Coalition, NAACP, any union, or the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants;  special interest groups created to help democrats win based on sex or ethnicity.

So, this woman decides to run for state senate against republican Umpa-Lumpa Amedore.  Since Amedore has given money to Gerry Jennings I am now interested.

She was the first to announce.  But there are 3 others running besides her for the democratic nod, Tkaczyck (she should coach basketball at Duke), Tom Dolan from Coeymans, and Bob Prentiss (yes republican turn carpetbagger interviewed for the Albany democrat nomination).  Guess who did not get an interview?   Yeap, the hispanic chick.

I have always said that democrats are more racist than republicans.  See, dems actively keep people of color down but republicans simply don't care.   So while this is not a surprise to me, I understand how it is a surprise to everyone else.

To add insult to injury, the Albany dems gave their nod to Dolan.  Ok.  Miranda then makes a stink by refering to the process as part of the good old boys network.  Damn, she got it and she didn't even have to sell herself for a few business suits from Marshall's like some self appointed public advocate blogger we know.

I am now in love!!!

So what she's a democrat, she is taking it to the machine just like another latino brotha we know who shares his name a famous basketball player from the Miami Heat.  If this is the future of latino anti status quo politics in America, yo quiero taco hell!!!!!

Matt Clyne, the head of the Albany Machine democrats said he would reopen the interview to consider Miranda.  Of course, after he picked his boy Dolan already.

Miranda, sloppy seconds is not only bad in 70's cheap porn, but also in politics ask Vanessa Del Rio.  Don't bother.  Trust me, you have bigger plantains to fry.

Here is an oldy but goody on this Palm Sunday.

The Ghosts In the Machine

So, the vote went down!  10 legislators voted against the lawyer of the machine and 27 voted for the same shit.
I’ve been here since the early 80s.  I am used to the machine running things.  I am used to the machine being corrupt and racist as I am used to them controlling every political party.  The machine, which is all democrat, has controlled the republican party from time to time.  One shining example was the time Joe Sullivan, another protégé of Richard Stack and machine operative, took over the city GOP.
But the other operatives of the machine have eluded us all.  Who the hell is part of the machine?  Who is an active player?  At the county level, we have successfully identified 27 of these ghosts.

This vote is bittersweet for every citizen of this area.  On one hand we know who is who.  On the other, the corruption continues.  This was not a win for the right wing, nor a victory for the republicans nor a defeat for the liberals.  Marcelle has been the lawyer of corruption in the county and now we the taxpayer gets to pay him $110K to continue to be what he has always been, a defender for the machine.

GIANTS WIN!!!!

Who else is a Brooklyn kid supposed to root for!!!  I could chill with some Jets and even Bills.  All about NY!!!!

This officially makes Tom Brady, Eli's son!!!  (in the hood in NYC it was insulting to refer to someone as your "son", its more a basketball trash talking thang).  Today they replaced the "son" with "bitch".

Another amazing game.  But the 2008 Superbowl still the best.

Brady, there is always next year.

HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

2012 Mullegan

Took a late lunch so I can have a short afternoon at work.  Then I made the mistake of going to the TU blogs and guess what?  See for yourself:

McCoy taps former GOP counsel as Albany County attorney

Then I had to reminisce of the good old days:

GOP WINS CHALLENGE REGARDING BALLOT LINE

GOP IRKED OVER LAWYER'S INVOLVEMENT IN CASE

APPELLATE COURT RULES AGAINST JENNINGS

And then:
Deborah Busch's Campaign Finance

Too full right now to figure it out for you.  But it all makes sense.

On Balance, We Lost a Good Man

George Infante

One great thing about dying when you are very old is that you can be a complete ass and still be respected.  Sol Greenberg is one of those lucky ones, click here to see what I really think of this character:  Sol and Jermaine Henderson

So when I heard Infante passed away, I had to think carefully about this post.  I wouldn’t want to paint him with the same brush I painted Sol.

Being a minority makes you want to instantly hate chiefs of any police agency, and with good reason.  Cops who are corrupt are protected, other cops like to abuse the civil rights of citizens, and they will always have the backing of the DA.  If you are in jail, and I have never been to jail, the guards abuse the prisoners and help smuggle drugs.  Oh, you thought it was just visitors?  Don’t be so stupid, of course prison guards are part of smuggling market.

Infante was Sheriff for 10 years.  A lot happened under his watch:
  • Guards caught interfering with drug investigations
  • Prison protests
  • Prison expansion – He was a force behind solving a serious overcrowding problem
  • De Maria – she was protestor who used to complain about prison conditions and Iran-Contra.  I was a big lefty in the mid 80s and I loved this woman.

But perhaps the best thing I recall from those days was a program he put together to put veterans who were incarcerated in contact with veteran groups.  I believe in 2nd chances like a motha and this program helped many veterans get back on the right track.  Only he could come up with such a great program as he was a WWII vet.  Good stuff.

About the only negative thing I have to say about Mr. Infante is that he was ineffective as county ledge.  But can we blame him for it?  The body is bloated so that it can’t get anything done.  I’ll give him a pass.
We are losing people from a great generation of Americans.  A generation who, while not perfect, still believed in helping people.  Welcome to the human race.

On balance, Albany lost a good man.  Rest in Peace.
